Oakland Comes Alive All Saints Day Tour

Historic Oakland Cemetery, Shreveport's oldest landmark, comes alive on the Sunday after All Saints Day for a tour featuring residents and preservation demonstrations.

You will receive a tour map for your self-guided tour and information about the Oakland Cemetery Preservation Society.
Residents of Oakland come to life with support from Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Holy Cross will feature a reception and tour of their church concurrently with the cemetery event. Community volunteers in costume will portray "residents" of this historic cemetery, telling you their stories while you learn about the city's early history. Volunteers will offer a demonstration on monu¬ment preservation techniques. Members of the Oakland Cemetery Preservation Society will be on hand to visit with visitors and share plans for the future of the cemetery. Oakland is located on Milam Street at Elvis Presley Boulevard in front of the Municipal Auditorium. Holy Cross is located at the intersections of Cotton and Texas Ave, approximately one block away.
