The Alta and John Franks Gazebo
June 06, 2017

The original Oakland Cemetery Master Landscape Plan, developed by the Oakland Cemetery Preservation Society (OCPS) in 2010, contained a signature structure that was designed to greatly enhance the overall beauty of the cemetery. The structure chosen was a beautiful gazebo that would fit in perfectly with the time period chosen for the restoration and rehabilitation of Oakland.
We are very pleased to announce that the Alta and John Franks Foundation will donate the gazebo as “A gift to the People of Shreveport”. The gazebo was carefully and professionally designed by Gene Hodgson of Pollard-Hodgson Architects and will be located at the intersection of Washington and Willow Streets, in the cemetery. The contractor is Jackson Construction Company.
